Now that I can write about whatever I want let’s talk about the years we like to call the 20-somethings.
So yes this song was released way back when (I’m joking but that’s how it feels) in 2017. When I first heard it at 18 I liked it but as the years progress I feel like I finally understand it.
The Ghosts of Our 20s
I saw a quote that said, “What are your 20s if not a bunch of ghosts of who you thought you would be.” Way to come for all of us…
It’s so true though, I feel like from the time we graduate high school and get to college we’re a constant hamster on a wheel, trying to get to this place of “I know myself.”
I don’t say this from a place of superiority, I’m talking to you as someone who just got off the wheel. Exhausted. Confused. And just when I think oh yeah I know exactly who I am and who I’ll be, everything changes.
What is life if not constantly evolving? Enjoy your hamster wheel run. Because as morbid and maybe cynical as it sounds if we’ve completely figured it out doesn’t that mean we’ve reached the end of life?
How could it be?

From love, only know

Pressure makes diamonds
Yeah, sza hit the nail on the head with that part of the song. There’s so much pressure to find love, buy a car, make money, go on trips, the list can go on forever… but pressure makes diamonds. You do NOT have to have it all together in your 20s but let that pressure fuel your motivation to achieve the goals you want.
I had a coach that in very intense times of a volleyball game would say “Pressure or incentive?” I have no clue where he got that from but it always put things into perspective. Put this pressure you’re feeling into an incentive to push yourself to succeed.
So next time you’re feeling challenged by these 20 somethings maybe ask yourself pressure
